And Now A Word From Andy
According to a new report from Gallup called The State of the American Consumer in their "panic to complete", bric-and-mortar stores "often overlook what really matters to the customers - service.
I read this report with great interest as it sometimes seems to me that price is becoming more and more of a determining factor in how some of our customers make buying decisions. Ever since my Dad started our company way back in 1948 we have always put the customer first. I remember a few years ago when we delivered a credenza to a first floor office and it wouldn't fit in the door. Our installers simply went around to the side of the building and fir the credenza through the window. Result: a happy customer.
Or - sort of the opposite of that story - the time a law firm was shopping for 20 tables and thought our price was too high so they bought the tables from an internet seller. Two weeks later the 20 tables were dropped at their office buildings loading dock on a pallet in cartons.It took all the partners almost two days to unpack the pallets, take the boxes up on the freight elevator and assemble the tables in their office. Do you think they saved money? I don't think so.
