On Friday, May 16th, 2025, the Department of Campus Safety was notified by the NYPD of a report of an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 2:44 p.m., in front of the north entrance of 1 Metrotech Center, in Brooklyn.

The victim, a Non-NYU affiliate, reported that two unknown individuals demanded the victim hand over their book bag at gunpoint. Once the bag was taken from the victim, the suspects fled in different directions. One suspect fled westbound towards Jay Street. The other suspect fled eastbound towards Flatbush Avenue.
There were no reported injuries. The NYPD is actively investigating the matter and searching for the assailants.

Description of Suspect(s): One suspect was masculine-presenting and wearing a black shirt. The second suspect was masculine-presenting and wearing a red hoodie.
