Bellissima! The Italian Automotive Renaissance, 1945–1975 celebrates the visual dynamism and spirit of innovation characterizing Italian coachbuilt cars, concept cars and motorcycles produced during the post–World War II economic revival.
Returning to the Frist Center after the 2013 presentation of Sensuous Steel: Art Deco Automobiles, automotive authority and guest curator Ken Gross has chosen 19 automobiles and 3 motorcycles from private collections and museums that are among the finest examples of Italian automotive design, including vehicles by Alfa Romeo, Bizzarrini, Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lancia and Maserati.

Ascend Amphitheater | Thursday, May 26 at 8:00 p.m.
Jimmy Buffett’s Nashville connections run deep. He arrived in Nashville in 1969 prepared for a recording career. His first album didn’t sell well; the master tapes for his second one were lost, only to be found and released years later, after he was already a star.
“These first two albums show all the potential and promise that was soon to be realized” wrote Billboard at the time they were released. What was realized were massive hits and fan favorites like “Margaritaville,” “Fins” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” a song reportedly written about the burger at Rotier’s on Elliston Place, and an enviable career that has seen Buffett play to sold-out sheds ever since. His “Parrothead” fans have helped him launch a successful restaurant chain, beer and secondary career as a novelist. His return to Nashville, where he also picked up a CMA Award for his collaboration with Alan Jackson a few years ago, is always cause for celebration. (NPN)
