UAH announces new scholarship program for Space Camp® graduates |
UAH is now offering a scholarship opportunity for graduates of Space Camp® at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. The UAH Space Camp Scholarship offers up to $8,000 in financial support for those who choose to continue their academic journey at UAH.
“This scholarship reflects UAH’s deep connection to space, science and innovation,” said Dr. Michael Poll, vice provost for enrollment management at UAH. “Space Camp does more than inspire — it equips students with the foundational skills and mindset needed for success in STEM. By connecting these young innovators to institutions like UAH, we’re helping prepare the next generation of engineers, scientists and technology leaders who will power the region’s future.”

UAH ATO brother Cadis Ammons receives outstanding senior award from national fraternity |
Greek life at UAH continues to make a powerful impact through service, leadership and national recognition.
Alpha Tau Omega’s Theta Pi chapter recently celebrated brother Cadis Ammons being named the 2025 Thomas Arkle Clark Award winner — ATO’s highest honor for an undergraduate. Fellow ATO Mark Porter was also named a 2025 TAC Fellow.
“This is a big deal,” said UAH Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. Ronnie Hebert. “This is our second consecutive year having UAH represented as both the honoree and a runner-up for one of ATO’s most prestigious awards. I can’t think of another university that could say the same. It’s another testament to what a great group of ATOs we have on our campus.”

UAH welcomes 21 new faculty members as 2025-26 academic year begins |
UAH welcomed 21 new faculty members for the 2025–26 academic year, beginning Aug. 20. “We’re delighted to bring these exceptional new faculty members into the UAH family,” said UAH Provost Dr. David Puleo.
“By choosing to work alongside our current outstanding faculty, they demonstrate a shared dedication to academic excellence. We look forward to providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive."

UAH hosts students for International Space Weather Camp |
UAH recently hosted students for the 2025 International Space Weather Camp (ISWC), a four-week immersive program that brought together 17 students from the Southeastern U.S. and Germany. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the program offered over 20 expert-led lectures and hands-on research projects in topics such as plasma physics, cosmic ray modulation and AI applications in space weather modeling. Organized by UAH’s Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research (CSPAR), ISWC emphasized interdisciplinary learning and international collaboration.

UA System Capitol Scholars internship program is taking applications for Summer 2026
|
Applications are now open for the University of Alabama (UA) System Capitol Scholars Program, a competitive summer internship in Washington, D.C., open to students from UA System campuses interested in government and public service. Students will gain hands-on experience, professional networking opportunities and valuable insight into careers in and around government.
The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 12, at noon, and a virtual interest meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 5:00 p.m.
