Eight students from IVC’s Black Student Success Scholars Program recently took part in the third annual HBCU Tour, visiting top historically Black colleges including Spelman, Morehouse, and Tuskegee. Beyond campus visits, students explored key landmarks in African American history such as the MLK Jr. Center, Rosa Parks Museum, and the Legacy Museum. Student Services Center and Student Union Groundbreaking |
IVC has officially broken ground on its largest construction project in four decades: a $70 million development featuring a new Student Services Center, Student Union, and redesigned central quad. The groundbreaking ceremony, which included a land blessing by Acjachemen Nation tribal leader Mark Mendez and his son, marked both a celebration of IVC’s 40-year legacy and a bold step toward the future. Set to open in phases through 2028, the new facilities will enhance student life, centralize support services, and reflect the college’s commitment to equity, sustainability, and community.

Pledges & Pinwheels Shows Support for Foster Youth |
On May 1, the IVC community came together to turn awareness into action for Foster Care Awareness Month. The Pledges & Pinwheels event created a vibrant display of solidarity, encouragement, and hope for current and former foster youth pursuing higher education. Each pinwheel planted was more than decoration—it was a message that our foster youth are seen, supported, and never standing alone. Thank you for helping change the narrative, one pledge at a time. New Real Estate Coursework Brings Real World Insights to the Classroom |
“It’s to everyone’s benefit to learn about real estate,” says Rick Boone, a professor and chair of the Real Estate program at Irvine Valley College (IVC). “Regardless if we are renters or homeowners, we all have to live somewhere – so it’s essential to learn about the legalities and nuances of the real estate industry.”
