It is hard to believe we are approaching the final leg of the fall semester already! There is a lot that you might want to talk with your student about, such as registration and Thanksgiving break travel plans. Check out November's Conversation Topics for some helpful questions to get those conversations started.
First year students will be able to register soon. Dr. Amy Bergerson, Associate Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education, along with members of Miami's academic advising team presented a webinar to explain the advising and registration process as well as to provide insight into coaching and supporting your students through it earlier this semester. You can find a recording of that webinar on the Parent and Family Programs YouTube channel. Additionally, specific information about the registration process can be found on One Stop's registration website.
If your student comes home for Thanksgiving, the break is a good time to test boundaries with your student in preparation for Winter Break. Think about rules that were in place before they left for Miami and then consider what may need adjusted and what may stay in place when they arrive back home in December? A good balance can be struck in your expectations by starting the conversation early.
As always, review past issues of this newsletter on our Stay in Touch page.
