2 Samuel 5:6-7
The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, “You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought, “David cannot get in here.” Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion—which is the City of David.
New International Version (NIV)
“It is impossible!”  When Michael Johnson, the great American Olympic sprinter heard those words he said,  “Those who say something can’t be done should never get in the way of those who are already doing it.”  He proceeded to set World Records in the 200 and 400 meter runs.
“The blind and lame can keep you out!”  When newly crowned King David decided to make Jerusalem his headquarters, the Jebusites stood high in their fortress and told him he would never get to them.  But David saw a way up the water pipe and conquered the city.  It became the City of David ever afterward.
When we talk about God we should never use the word impossible.  With us, some things are impossible, but with God all things are possible.  Those who say God can’t do something should not get in the way of God who does  all that he pleases.
Pray with me:
Father, we thank you that nothing is too difficult for you.  So we come today shackled by our impossibilities asking you to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or imagine.  Show us your power, God of angel armies.  Some trust in chariots and some in horses but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.  We ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
