Mayor Bill Finch speaks during a small business roundtable discussion held on Thursday at the Bridgeport Innovation Center in celebration of National Small Business Week.
In celebration of National Small Business Week, Mayor Bill Finch met with small business owners and entrepreneurs for a roundtable discussion at the Bridgeport Innovation Center on Thursday. Along with more than a dozen business owners, Mayor Finch was joined by representatives from the Bridgeport business community to discuss resources and services available to help local small businesses succeed in the Park City.
Among the programs highlighted by Mayor Finch was “Get Your Business Online,” a partnership between the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Google to help small businesses have an online presence.
Mayor Finch noted: “55% of small businesses in America do not have a website. This program will help provide small business with a free website. It’s quick, it’s simple and it’s free and I encourage all Bridgeport businesses to take advantage of this program.”

Isaiah McLaughlin, 10, had a portable aluminum ramp in the back of his house. It was stolen last week, and local contractor Lu Colon is now building a permanent ramp to take its spot.
Since sharing McLaughlin's story, people have raised more than $5,500 on GoFundMe.com for his new ramp, which is more than three times their goal.
City officials say that Mayor Bill Finch's wife, Sonya, heard McLaughlin's story and put him in touch with Colon.
