Celebrating Fifty Years of Central Gardens
1967 - 2017
2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Central Gardens Neighborhood Association. And for this year's newsletters we are celebrating by exploring the history of our great neighborhood with highlights from various historic records of our city.
This month's newsletter references the Standard history of Memphis, Tennessee, from a study of the original sources by John Preston and A.R. James (published 1912) to help provide a unique view into one of Central Gardens’ primary infrastructure components – sewers. Read More

A Benefit for the
Overton Park Conservancy
Wednesday, May 24, 6-8 PM
Abe Goodman Golf House Overton Park

The Overton Park Alliance, comprised of several Midtown neighborhood associations and park support organizations, along with Park Friends, will host a fundraiser May 24 for the Overton Park Conservancy. Appropriately dubbed The Parking Party, all donations collected during the event will go directly to the OPC for exclusive use towards its $1 million share of the Memphis Zoo parking lot renovation. The OPC must raise these funds by June 11 as mandated by the Memphis City Council last month.

The Parking Party will feature a concert by local favorites Vicki Loveland and Van Duren and an old-fashioned cookout with burgers and hot dogs. A cash bar also will be available. Children and dogs are welcome, as are blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets.

Donations are strongly encouraged, but there is no charge to attend this event - no one will be turned away.  All donations are tax deductible.
