The museum is open and we have a number of in-person and online programs, tours, and resources to support your teaching and learning!
We are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment and require proof of full vaccination for general museum admission and programs for all visitors ages 12 and older. Read all the procedures for a safe visit here.
Online Museum Tour (Grades K-12+, All ages)
Visit the museum from your classroom! Online tours explore the six collections that make up the Museum: Tetrapods, Marine Invertebrates, Herbarium, Entomology, Fish, and Fossils.
  • Biodiversity Explorers (Grades K-12+, All ages): Learn about our collections, then head outside to try out different methods to explore nature right beside the museum! *Offered from March 1 through October 31.
  • Diving into Diversity (Grades K-4, Ages 5-9): This program looks at the diversity of living things and ways of describing and organizing the world around us.
  • Adaptations (Grades 4-7, Ages 9-12): A curriculum-based program exploring adaptations and introducing students to the theory of evolution through natural selection.
  • Thinking Sustainably (Grades 7-10, Ages 12-15): This program focuses on exploring different approaches to sustainability in biodiversity, meeting our needs and incorporating many perspectives.
  • Inquiry into Evolution (Grades 10-12, Ages 15-17): Students will work in groups to unravel the history of organisms we see today, using an inquiry-based approach to learning.
Beaty Boxes, our award-winning outreach kits, are available for rental. All Beaty Boxes contain touchable specimens and other scientific objects to stimulate inquiry and discussion within the classroom, enhancing the student learning experience. See what we are doing to keep our Beaty Boxes clean and safe. March 12 - 27, 2022 | Drop-in activities at 12:00 pm daily
Join us this Spring Break for a different activity every day, brought to you by volunteers, staff, curators, and special guests. From identification tips & tricks to art, games, crafts, and hands-on activities, you’ll be a biodiversity pro in no time. Meet under the whale at 12:00 pm unless otherwise noted. The Beaty Biodiversity Museum reserves the right to change or modify programming as needed. The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is closed on Mondays and statutory holidays. All activities are open to all ages and are included with membership or museum admission on a drop-in basis unless otherwise noted.

If you can’t make it out to the museum, you can still learn with us! Find over 100 biodiversity-themed resources you can download and use for free. There are options for all grades covering topics like identification, anatomy, ecology, and evolution. Take some time to explore our resources website and get inspired to learn about the natural world from your home or classroom anywhere in the world.

The resource pictured above is from a printable poster that highlights how scientists use camera traps to help study large animals in the wild. This can be paired with the Researchers Revealed online exhibit, where scientists teach you about their projects!
