Hi Neighbor!

In mid-August, I spotted Halloween candy in the seasonal grocery aisle. Over Labor Day weekend, I wanted to buy Victory’s Summer Love Ale only to learn Whole Foods isn’t selling it anymore. “Summer’s over. It’s time for all the pumpkin flavors now,” is what I was told. And, I know I’m a minority, but I was saddened to hear Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte was released this past Tuesday.

I understand that Labor Day is behind us, the kids are back in school, and many vacations are over, but can we slow the pace down? The food industry is taking away our summer! The fall season doesn’t officially commence until late September! After all, peaches, tomatoes, and corn are still on the menu at our local restaurants.

Technology is always blamed for making our lives more fast-paced and hectic than ever, but I blame the creators of pumpkin spice!

A slower-paced life means making time to enjoy whatever you are doing, to appreciate the outdoors, and to focus on whoever you’re talking to or spending time with. I’ll admit, all of this can be more enjoyable with a pumpkin spice beverage…but not yet!

Below is a list of upcoming events and some have “Fall” and “Pumpkin” in the title, but don’t be fooled. The temperatures are still high, the nights are still long, and the fun in the sun continues for a few more weeks!

Stay mindful and in the words of Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t slow down and look around, you might miss it.”

Enjoy!
Beth
