Loren Rieseberg appointed director of
UBC Biodiversity Research Centre

We are pleased to share the appointment of Professor Loren Rieseberg to the position as Director of the Biodiversity Research Centre. Loren joined UBC in 2006 as a Professor and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Royal Society (UK). He is currently the Canada Research Chair in Plant Evolutionary Genomics.

The Beaty Biodiversity Museum echoes the Faculty of Science's gratitude to thank Professor Sally Otto for her outstanding service as Director of the Biodiversity Research Centre for the past eight years. During Sally’s term, UBC’s international reputation in biodiversity has grown tremendously, including the successful NSERC CREATE program (BRITE: Biodiversity Research: Integrative Training and Education), the development of sequencing and bioinformatics capabilities, and her leadership of UBC’s Adapting Biosystems research initiative.
