Spring Fest at West Was the Best
It’s been wonderful seeing the West Huntsville Recreation Center take on such a prominent spot in District 5 in the short time it has been open. And I hope everyone had an opportunity to visit during the first Spring Fest at West.
Residents enjoyed more than a dozen booths from groups like Huntsville Madison County Public Library, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, 4-H, NMCC Church, Nutty Scientists and Smoothie King, along with live music from the Southern Storm Band and DJ Double R.
Kids got an up-close look at a Huntsville Fire and Rescue ladder truck, a Huntsville Police Department SWAT vehicle and Alabama A&M University’s STEM trailer featuring coding and circuitry activities. A big thank you to the City's Parks & Recreation department for organizing this fantastic event.

New Redstone Branch on Zierdt Road
I recently attended the ribbon cutting for the new Redstone Federal Credit Union (RFCU) branch on Zierdt Road. This is an exciting addition that brings much-needed banking services to this fast-growing area of District 5. It’s gratifying to see businesses and services continuing to meet our residents where they live. Thank you to the RFCU leadership and the employees of this new branch for your investment in the D5 community.

New Initiatives Coming from Orion Amphitheater
I must say, it’s always a thrill to stand on the stage at The Orion Amphitheater. More importantly, visiting Orion is about hearing insight into several exciting upcoming initiatives that will further engage the community and draw even more visitors to this dynamic venue. Orion is more than a concert facility. It’s also a hub for cultural and community activities. And when it comes to concerts, Orion ensures that every artist who performs on its stage has a unique and memorable experience. It’s what keeps artists coming back.

Resolute Way Design Contract Approved
I was pleased to support the approval of the engineering design contract for the first phase of Resolute Way. It’s a critical piece of infrastructure for our growth at Redstone Arsenal and Redstone Gateway while helping alleviate traffic congestion on Research Park Boulevard. The second phase of the project will include an elevated roadway over Interstate 565 that will facilitate westbound traffic leaving the arsenal.

New District 5 Weather Warning Siren Online
It’s always an honor to be able to work on a project that improves the lives of constituents. I was able to work with the Huntsville-Madison County Emergency Management Agency to identify an area that needed improved coverage for severe weather alerts. Now a new weather warning siren is operational on Rockhouse Road south of Swancott Road. I’m also glad the siren is online as the spring tornado season approaches.

North Alabama Homebuilding Academy
The North Alabama Homebuilding Academy is one of the things that makes Huntsville a special place. The career opportunities it provides are invaluable. I enjoyed my tour at the homebuilding academy and learning more the impactful work they are doing to provide individuals with an alternative career path in construction. Through free, hands-on training in a variety of trades, they’re equipping people with skills that lead directly to employment opportunities.

Downtown Rescue Mission Expansion
I had the privilege of joining fellow city leaders and speaking on behalf of the City at the recent ribbon cutting for the Owen's House expansion at the Downtown Rescue Mission. This project is incredibly important to our community, providing additional space and resources to shelter women and children seeking safety and an opportunity to build a better future.

Market at MidCity Now Open on Sundays
If you haven’t heard, The Market at MidCity is now open on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The first opening on Sunday, March 15, drew more than 24,000 visitors. The Market also has a new location this year: 900 MidCity Dr., adjacent to Tupelo Honey. It’s a great place to visit with local farmers, bakers, artisans, makers, growers, musicians and more. About 60 local vendors are at The Market each week and is a tremendous opportunity to support local businesses.
