AROUND OUR SANCTUARIES

Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary

The Midway Crossing boardwalk is finished! Wildlife slows down in cooler weather, but there’s still a lot to see on your walk and the mosquitoes are (mostly) gone. Sanctuary gates are open from 7am-7pm every day including holidays. Please register your group of 7 people or more on our website, and remember that professional photo sessions require a permit!

Raptor and Education Center

'Tis the season for owl prowls. Join us at the Raptor Center for some nocturnal prowling for wild owls on the wooded trails, including the rare opportunity to meet our live, rehabilitated owls. Be sure to visit our Nature Store for birdy apparel, jewelry, toys, books, and more!

High Island and Bolivar Flats

We're hard at work constructing boardwalks at Horseshoe Marsh for the new nature trail. Phase 1 is anticipated to be ready Spring 2022. We also finished the shade structure over the Entergy Coastal Natives Nursery and will start bringing seedlings from the greenhouse at the original Natives Nursery at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary.
Christmas Bird Counts for Galveston (Dec. 14) and High Island (Dec. 16) are coming up! Contact the compilers if you're interested in participating.
Join us at our next volunteer workday at High Island on December 11! And if you can't wait for spring migration, you can pre-order a 2022 patch now!
