Jessica Mulvihill, Office of International Education, will travel to Japan in June as a recipient of a Fulbright International Education Administrator Award. She will work on a research project, “Stress and Anxiety Management for College-Age Students in Japan,” and gain experience to support students in their travels to or from Japan.

Bonnie Freiman, a student in the Disability Services program and the president of IUP’s chapter of Best Buddies, an organization that promotes friendships with people with disabilities, has been awarded the Ray Coppler Disability Awareness Award for 2021–22.

Catherine Dugan, Department for Disability Access and Advising, was the moderator, and students April Flowers, Elijah Vanier, Dmitri Woods, and Erick Marco Ramos were participants in a panel discussion, “The Student Experience: Disability and the Classroom,” at the English Graduate Organization conference in April.

Catherine Dugan, Department for Disability Access and Advising, and April Flowers, biology graduate student, presented “Dyslexia: Facts and Experiences” at the IUP screening of Confetti, a US-Chinese film about the educational journey of a child with dyslexia. The event was part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Lizoon Nahar, Curriculum and Instruction doctoral candidate, and Crystal Machado, Department of Professional Studies in Education, conducted a roundtable session at the Society of Information Technology and Teacher Education conference in San Diego on “Enriching Science Classes with Virtual Laboratories: Lessons Learned from Self-Motivated Science Educators.”
