As we wrap up 2022, we reflect on some of the amazing work accomplished by the consortium over the year:
Collaborative efforts impacted pre-procedure hydration, reduced the number of opioids prescribed to patients, expanded the availability of smoking cessation resources for patients, dramatically improved radiation safety for patients and providers, and increased the prescription of statins at discharge.
BMC2 partnered with the Michigan Value Collaborative (MVC) to create the Michigan Cardiac Rehab Network (MiCR) and set a goal of increasing cardiac rehab participation from 30% - 40% by 2024.
Michigan TAVR became the Michigan Structural Heart Consortium (MISHC), and the registry began reporting on transcatheter mitral valve procedures.
Consortium data informed 11 publications featured in 8 journals.
Our Best Practice Protocol Task Forces created new documents to guide consortium members through emergencies and more.
We met in person to network, share, and learn from expert speakers from across the nation.
Your partnership and participation are what made this work possible! |

This past year also marks the last with Dr. Peter Henke as our Director of Vascular Surgery. For over a decade, Dr. Henke has served as a champion of quality improvement and the registry has thrived under his leadership. We are grateful for all he has contributed in his role as a director and look forward to continued partnership with him as he serves in an ex officio capacity. We will welcome our new Director of Vascular Surgery, Dr. Nicholas Osborne, in January.
We thank you for your dedication to improving quality of care and outcomes for Michigan patients and look forward to continued collaboration in 2023.
