This section is full of timely and evidence-based practices to apply in your teaching.

For this week's teaching tips, we wanted to take a moment to share important takeaways and strategies from our recent student focus groups to learn more about what keeps our students motivated, moving forward and successful at UNCG. Below is a summary of the major takeaways:
- Students are using a variety of strategies to keep themselves motivated to focus on their studies.
- Students are taking notes and studying in a variety of ways.
- Most students don’t feel comfortable asking questions during class sessions.
-
Students will use academic support services and tools, but need faculty to incentivize them for the initial contact.
- Students crave a connection with their faculty members in their classes.
We encourage you to watch the latest What's Working video on making space for conversation with your students by Art professor, Barbara Campbell Thomas. This will allow you to have similar discussions with your students this semester to meet them where they are and create lasting connections. Click the button below to read the full document with strategies from students that you can implement now.

Reminder: Faculty Feedback Needed | Burgundy Zone (disability awareness education and training effort)
The Burgundy Zone (BZ) program is in development! BZ (similar to the existing Safe Zone,Trans Zone, Green Zone and Indigenous Safe Space) will provide disability awareness education and training for UNCG students, staff, and faculty. BZ’s goal is to change the campus culture so that it is more inclusive and supportive of people with disabilities and chronic conditions. We need your participation in the Campus Culture & Environment Employee Survey (linked below) to help with the development of this program. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-20 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey by February 17.
