Hi Neighbor!
During weeks of quarantining with a teen and a pre-teen, I’ve often been touched by how my daughters seem to be coping. I certainly feel worried about them and sorry for them, but also proud. They’re adapting to online school; they’re missing friends and activities but staying fairly positive.

I think about two of my nieces, seniors in high school, and all the graduates who were meant to take the stage this spring.  I think of the athletes who lost a season, of the actors who lost a show, of every student who walked out of school in March, lives abruptly and perhaps forever changed.

Another niece, Alice Regan, has already faced enormous challenges.  A former Loyola soccer player, Alice was diagnosed with anorexia and had to leave school and stop playing the sport that she loved.  She’d spent a good deal of time recovering and had transferred to Boulder, but now, like many college students, she’s at home, finishing her degree virtually.

Alice has started a blog and an Instagram account, something she’s been wanting to do.  She’s used this time to write, cook, photograph, and create, hoping to share some of what she’s learned about living authentically and colorfully.

Life may be forever changed, but maybe these resilient young people are changing it for the better.

2nd Family Main Line is an award winning home health care business, serving senior citizens & their families on the Main Line, offering non-medical support for every day life. By incorporating RN care coordination, a technology platform designed for families and elite caregivers, we can ensure your family members are receiving the best care possible.

2nd Family Co-Owner and Director of Nursing, Emily Glowacki, wanted to do something for the healthcare workers battling Covid on the frontlines. As a registered nurse with Jefferson and Penn Health systems, she saw the emotional and physical toll the pandemic was taking on her friends, former colleagues and co-workers as they were treating critically ill patients.

On April 17th, Emily launched her Feed The Frontlines with 2nd Family initiative. Friends, family and followers of 2nd Family jumped right in with nominations of hard-working healthcare workers at local hospitals as well as monetary donations to support the cause. 2nd Family worked with local restaurants, including Desert Rose and Bittersweet Kitchen (both in Media) as well as Ripplewood Whiskey & Craft (In Ardmore) to deliver delicious meals to the nominees and their floors. Many floors are converted Covid-19 units due to the influx of positive patients.

Since the April 17th launch, 2nd Family has raised nearly $5000, visited 10 different local hospitals (HUP, Jeff, Temple, Presby, Riddle, Chester County Hospital, Virtua in Voorhees, Crozer-Chester, Bryn Mawr & Lankenau Hospitals), 17 different floors and fed hundreds of local healthcare workers.

Nominations and donations to the GoFundMe are still being accepted. To donate: email Emily Glowacki at emily@2ndfamilymainline.com

Paws@Play Dog Daycare
Yes, I am open! Yes, I am accepting new dogs! Having 25+ years’ experience (15 years In the Main Line and winner of “Best of Main Line” for 9 years.in a row),  I know I can give your pup the best care in the area. Paws@Play is small which gives me the chance to know the dogs individually and recognize any signs of change in behavior and alerting the parents if further care is necessary. No cages used – dogs run free playing and having fun all day mainly in the 1800 sq. ft. playroom. Nervous dogs are kept in a playroom with the very small dogs and will move to the bigger room only when they feel confident enough.

Bounce Back Physical Therapy Inc. has been serving the local community for 20 years. It is a privately owned company run by a husband and wife team , Charan Chadha MPT and Stephanie Sposato MPT.
We are open and treating patients either in person inside our clinic or through TeleHealth. We are deemed an essential business and have remained open to help flatten the curve for those who would otherwise have to visit the ER. We are licensed to treat patients for 30 days without a doctors prescription, so there is no need to wait to see your doctor before starting physical therapy.
Rest assured we are taking every precaution as outlined by the CDC for the protection and safety of our patients and staff.
We are doing our part to support our local businesses. So when considering your provider for physical therapy, please support a local family owned business instead of a hospital or corporate owned facility.

Wayne Church (a United Methodist community in Wayne, PA) has been successfully operating a food pantry for many years.  With regularity, it provides 40-60 bags of groceries to needy neighbors every week.  As you can imagine, the demand has sky-rocketed in recent weeks.

To help spread the word and to provide more food for more families, Wayne Church has teamed with local Boy Scouts, namely Paoli Troop 1, for a huge Food Donation event Saturday, May 9th, from 9:00am to Noon.

All food will be collected in the municipal parking lot at the corner of South Wayne and Runnymeade Avenues (bordered by Wayne Church and the Radnor Fire Company) using a Non-Contact Car Drop-Off process.  (Just pull up, pop your trunk and the volunteers will do the heavy lifting.)

Donations of any kind are welcome, from food goods, to toiletries, to diapers/formula and even gift cards.  Many donors have begun purchasing local small business gift cards which allow them to support those in need on both sides of the equation!
