Board Spotlight
Brittany Gordon
Junior Board - VP/Sponsorship Chair
Serving UCP is more than sitting on a board for me.  With every meeting, tour, or event I am reminded that the work we do directly affects the participants at UCP and their families, but I’m also reminded how much of an impact they have on me and opening my eyes to true heroes.

What People Are Saying...
The Early Intervention program at UCP gave Bailee everything she needs to live her life without limits. Socially, mentally, physically, every aspect of her life has been molded and shaped by the early intervention she received from UCP!

Dr. Mark Cohen: Seeing a Need, Leaving a Legacy
Dr. Mark Cohen is a shining example of a true servant leader.  His work with UCP began 40 years ago as he assisted his wife, Lynne, and fellow Civiettes with their annual Mall Ball Fundraiser held at Eastwood Mall, the South’s oldest mall. Dr. Cohen tells us that “the Mall Ball was such a fun event with a different festive theme each year.  It was THE don’t miss event of the season!"
Dr. Cohen also served as a VIP fundraiser for the much loved UCP telethon.  He, along with 150 other community leaders, helped UCP raise thousands of dollars to help reach telethon goals of more than $1 million.
UCP quickly recognized what a gem Dr. Cohen was and asked him to join the Board of Directors.  Dr. Cohen, an OB/GYN, rose to the occasion providing not only leadership but also medical guidance.

Program Spotlight - Early Intervention
The first years of life are CRUCIAL to a child's lifelong growth and development. Babies can't wait. UCP of Greater Birmingham won't let them. Serving more than 735 infants aged birth to three years old over a seven county footprint, UCP is home to the state's largest Early Intervention program.
It takes a special team of dedicated and highly skilled staff members to meet the needs of the families we serve. Close to 30 staff members including Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Service Coordinators and Special Instructors serve children through UCP’s Hand In Hand Early Intervention Program.
