Marie's Message

Hi All,
It is great to see so many youth and adult members re-enrolling/enrolling in the 4-H program! Get those re-enrollments completed by November 15 and begin your 4-H year! Congratulations to all of the 4-H members on their achievements which are being recognized at club meetings this November.

Also, I would like to thank all of the club leaders for submitting their club charters last month. As I reviewed them, I learned that many clubs are focusing on empowering youth officers and welcoming new families. Last week at Officer Training, I shared some tools and activities to use at your club meetings to help create a welcoming environment. I can’t wait to hear how those are being used from the clubs that attended!

Remember to check out dates at the end of the Friday Focus. We are also working on the yearly calendar for 2023 as soon as we have the dates for county project meetings and programs.

Scholarships Available to Support 4-H Member Educational Experiences

The Leaders’ Association and the Beaver Dam Agri-Business Club encourage youth to take advantage of the educational trip opportunities that are possible through 4-H. These organizations have scholarships budgeted that will pay for over half of the cost of the Educational Experiences. To receive a scholarship youth need to apply by filling out the Member Evaluation (ME) Form Application and participating in a face-to-face interview process. To be considered for a scholarship, the ME Form needs to be turned in by the due date required for each of the Educational Experience trips. Interviews are scheduled for January 5 and April 25, 2023.

Leipsic (Owen Hemling) Joseph Panzer, Savannah Fairbanks, and Rylee Tesch reported on Roadside and cemetery cleanup. The Club calendar and the years activities were discussed.

It was a beautiful day for an amazing fall trail ride at Lazy Creek Farm on October 29th. Groups rode together on the trails to see the beautiful fall scenery.

Dodge County 4-H is Seeking More Amazing Volunteers!

Volunteers help make 4-H possible! To volunteer, you don’t need to have previous experience working with youth. The most important qualifications are:

a desire to work with young people to help them learn new things and gain life skills; and
wanting to provide youth with positive experiences in a safe and welcoming environment

One of the first steps to become a registered 4-H volunteer is to attend a new volunteer orientation, Volunteers in Training (VIP). The next virtual options (Zoom) are:

4-H Thrive Survey Coming for Older Youth

Wisconsin 4-H invites members (ages 13-19) to complete a survey about their 4-H experience. The survey was developed by National 4-H Leaders (https://helping-youth-thrive.extension.org/) and will help Wisconsin 4-H to learn about the quality of our programs. The information will help to show how 4-H helps young people to learn new things, develop leadership skills, manage goals, set high personal standards, create positive academic attitudes, and other skills that lead to long-term success in life.

Youth who complete the survey will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 gift card!

4-H Clubs Invited to Create New Cedar Crest Ice Cream Flavor!

Who: All 4-H Clubs in the State of Wisconsin are eligible.
What: Wisconsin 4-H clubs are invited to collaborate to imagine a delicious new ice cream flavor, and come up with an interesting flavor name. Each club may submit up to five entries.
When: Entries must be submitted to Cedar Crest Ice Cream no later than November 15, 2022 via online entry form or email.
