On Wednesday, June 21, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a stabbing occured in Washington Square Park resulting in the victim's death. Details are as follows:
Two suspects got into a dispute with the victim in the northwest corner of Washington Square Park. During the dispute, one of the suspects stabbed the victim in the chest. Both suspects fled the park, heading west on Waverly Place. The reason for the dispute is unknown.
EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. NYPD has ruled the incident a homicide. They are actively investigating this occurrence and seeking the assailants. There is a considerable police presence in and around the park.
None of the parties involved are believed to be members of the NYU community.
Description of Reported Offenders:
Suspect #1: Male-presenting, dark complexion, wearing a black short-sleeved t-shirt, black leggings, black sneakers with white soles, and carrying a black backpack and white, wired headphones.
Suspect #2: Male-presenting, dark complexion, wearing a white short-sleeved t-shirt, black shorts, and black and white sneakers.
