Take study breaks with therapy dogs, pizza, donuts and crafts! |
With final exams on the schedule next week, it’s important to build some down time into your study schedule. Fuel your brain and refresh your mind with these upcoming opportunities:

1. Studypalooza at the Learning Center:
Register to attend Studypalooza at the Learning Center in the Millar Library on Tuesday, March 12, from 4-8 p.m. Enjoy therapy dogs, pizza, massages, tutoring, and more. Plus, you could win a $100 Visa gift card!
2. Donut holes at TRSRC:
Visit the Transfer and Returning Students Resource Center (TRSRC) for donut holes and hot beverages on Wednesday, March 13 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., located in Fariborz Maseeh Hall (FMH) 342. Bring your reusable mug for a chance to win a small gift! Register to attend.
3. Craft and Chill with the Peer Support Project:
Unwind at the Women's Resource Center (WRC) this Wednesday, March 13, from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Paint mini canvases, create perler bead shapes, or make an essential oil-scented diffuser bracelet. Snacks provided! The WRC is located in the Smith Memorial Student Union, room 439.
4. Coffee and donuts at Simon Benson House:
The PSU Alumni Association is hosting coffee and donuts at Simon Benson House on Tuesday, March 19, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Take a refreshing break from finals studying!

Reminder: FAFSA help available on Fridays & Saturdays |
Fridays and Saturdays are set aside at the PSU Financial Aid office to help students complete and submit their federal financial aid forms (FAFSA). Financial aid awards have been delayed this year due to the late rollout of the new federal form, but PSU anticipates students will start receiving their awards in April.

Scholarship deadlines are approaching |
Once your FAFSA is submitted, the next step is to apply for scholarships! There are millions of dollars in scholarships available through Scholarship Universe including general scholarships as well as program-specific awards. The deadline to apply for scholarships is May 1.

Fuel your future with a certificate in food, beverage and goods leadership |
Speaking of scholarships… the Center for Retail Leadership within The School of Business has scholarships for 10 students to pursue a business certificate in Food, Beverage & Goods Leadership starting in the 2024-25 academic year. These scholarships are available to undergraduate junior, senior or post-bacc students who have added the FB&G certificate in Banweb. You don’t have to be a Business major to apply — this certificate pairs well with Communications, Psychology and Graphic Design pathways. Applications are due April 1.

Graduating this spring? Now is the time to pre order your cap and gown for commencement at special early bird pricing. To get the best deals, order online by Wednesday, April 10 and you can pick up your order for free on campus at Grad Fair on Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15.

Vote in Portland State’s song competition |
The submissions are in and now it’s time to vote for your favorite entry in the Portland State song competition! Submissions were received from students, alumni, faculty and staff. The winning entry will be put to music by a PSU professor. Deadline to vote is this Sunday, March 17. A committee will take campus voting into consideration when they choose the winning song.

Apply to run for a position in student government |
There are some excellent leadership opportunities within the Associated Students of PSU (ASPSU) in the 2024-25 academic year. ASPSU is looking for students to run as senators, student fee committee members and president/vice president. Undergraduate, post baccalaureate and graduate students from all majors are welcome to apply! Positions receive a stipend. The deadline to apply is April 1 at 11:59 p.m.

Submission deadline extended for PSU's Student Research Symposium |
Present at PSU Student Research Symposium: The PSU Student Research Symposium, is taking place on Wednesday, May 8, as part of PSU Research Week and you're invited! Undergraduate and graduate students from many disciplines are encouraged to showcase their research and creative works. There will be several poster awards and an oral presentation raffle drawing for both undergraduate and graduate students. Winners will each receive $100! Interested in presenting? The submission deadline has been extended to Sunday, March 24 at 11:59 p.m.

It’s time to reserve on campus child care for spring term |
Are you looking for just a few hours of care for your child? Little Vikings was created just for you! Little Vikings provides walk-in, reserved, and occasional care for children. PSU students, staff and faculty can reserve care for the entire term, up to 5 hours per day and 20 hours per week. Registration for spring term is now open. Questions? Students invited to town hall about disaster preparation |
January’s winter storm left many people in the PSU area and across Oregon without power, internet, or cell service for a week or more, and the high winds took down dozens of large trees – damaging homes, cars, and more. PSU students, faculty, and staff are invited to join Representative Dacia Grayber (HD 28 - SW Portland and East Beaverton) and PSU Advocates on Thursday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m. for a town hall on Community Resilience, so we can all better prepare for and respond to future disasters in our neighborhoods.

PSU President Ann Cudd attends State of the Union |
PSU President Ann Cudd attended the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. last week as the invited guest of Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer. She was accompanied by Assoc. Vice President of Government Relations, Kimberly Koops. In addition to attending the address, President Cudd met with lawmakers from Oregon and Southwest Washington to discuss PSU projects and priorities.

One of the easiest Intramural events to participate in! Simply make your picks for March Madness online, then sit back and watch some exciting college basketball games. Brackets are available next Monday, March 18, and must be submitted by March 20 at midnight before first round games start. The website will update your bracket automatically. FREE!
