Dear IAR Member,
Good Monday morning! Happy March!

One of our main goals here at IAR is to keep members current and compliant. Since we’re seeing an uptick in questions, we thought we’d reach out to our newer licensees* to clarify your continuing education (CE) and licensing requirements.

#1 Rule
EVERY NEWLY LICENSED INDIANA REAL ESTATE BROKER MUST COMPLETE A 30-HOUR POST-LICENSING COURSE WITHIN TWO YEARS OF THEIR LICENSE ISSUE DATE. Our records show you have not completed a 30-hour post-licensing course through our school, the Real Estate Certification Program (RECP).

It’s possible you completed a 30-hour post-licensing course through another school. If so, use this email as a reminder to renew your license by June 30, 2020 and as a resource for when to begin completing CE.

If you have yet to complete a 30-hour post-licensing course, we have good news – keep reading!

License Renewal & CE Info
  1. EVERY INDIANA-LICENSED REAL ESTATE BROKER MUST RENEW THEIR LICENSE BY JUNE 30, 2020. The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) tells us they will open the renewal process sometime in March with an email to all licensees. A new three-year license renewal cycle begins on July 1 and ends June 30, 2023.

  2. MAKE SURE IPLA HAS A VALID, UNIQUE EMAIL ADDRESS FOR YOU. This way you get direct notice of when the license renewal process opens and other important news from the state agency that oversees your license. You cannot assume because you received this email that the state has a good address for you. We are your membership organization and maintain a separate database.

  3. GIVE THE LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS YOUR FULL ATTENTION. Last time, we know of some members who erroneously clicked no to the U.S. citizenship question. They spent a lot of time and trouble proving their citizenship and getting it corrected in IPLA records.

  4. EVERY NEWLY LICENSED INDIANA REAL ESTATE BROKER MUST COMPLETE A 30-HOUR POST-LICENSING COURSE WITHIN TWO YEARS OF THEIR LICENSE ISSUE DATE. This course replaces the CE requirement during the first two years of licensure. The following chart shows the deadline for completion of the 30-hour post-licensing course and the year the CE requirement begins. You will not submit your course certificates of completion to IPLA. That’s because schools are required to do it for you. Just save your certificates somewhere safe in case of audit.
