WELCOME
Since the start of the academic year, many companies have scheduled time on campus to  build their brands and engage with the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) students. Many have noted the advantages of connecting with students throughout the year and beyond the Career Fair. Early familiarity with your brand and your representatives gives your organization a distinct advantage with students during the Career Fair, campus events, and on Handshake and directs the students to your company website.
Check out the sponsorship opportunity for the CEC Finals Week Study Break and the other engagement opportunities below.
FINALS WEEK STUDY BREAK
The first Finals Week Study Break for all CEC students will be held on Monday, December 5 from 6:00-8:00.
The event is an opportunity for the students to take a break from their intense finals' preparations, gather with CEC friends, and spend a little time thinking about something other than classes.

There will be sweet and salty snacks and activities to help the students "destress". Students will also be joined by our Dean and other faculty members.

We are currently seeking opportunities to partner with companies to sponsor the event.  Sponsors will have their company name and logo prominently displayed before, during, and after the event, and will significantly build their brand with CEC students.

More information and registration is available on the CEC Finals Week Study Break Registration form here.
UPSKILLING

The State of Ohio offers an easy and economical way to upskill your workforce.  Companies can apply for Ohio TechCred for their incumbent and new employees and Ohio will pay for the cost of the courses.
CEC currently offers advanced manufacturing and materials evaluation courses and workshops that are eligible for Ohio TechCred (see below).  We have recently added an online course in Regulatory Affairs that is also eligible for Ohio TechCred.
Are you looking for courses and workshops to educate your employees in exactly what you need them to know?
Do you want to add new courses to your current upskill course lineup?
CEC can help and work with you to develop courses customized to your needs and Ohio TechCred can pay for those courses.
With CEC and Ohio TechCred, you can receive custom education at no charge.
Please contact Colleen Bush at bushc4@miamioh.edu if you would like to learn more and talk about potential education collaborations.
ADVANCED MANUFACTURING UPSKILLING
Ohio TechCred offsets the costs to upskill and educate your employees.  It can provide up to $2,000 per credential, and employers are eligible to receive up to $30,000 for each monthly funding round.  This is an extremely cost effective way to quickly upskill your employees, and can include custom courses to ensure your teams always receive the most relevant training.  Ohio TechCred funding is open until November 30.
The advanced manufacturing and materials evaluation courses and workshops offered by the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Department are eligible for Ohio TechCred. These courses can be taken independent of other classes, as part of a degree/certificate program, used as professional development, or customized to meet your company's needs.
Check out the information on the courses here.  Please contact Colleen Bush at bushc4@miamioh.edu to learn more about the courses and how to educate your employees at no additional cost to your company.
OUTREACH EVENTS

CEC's Outreach Office has several opportunities for both volunteers and sponsors.  Supporting CEC's outreach events is a great way to not only engage with CEC students but also support and encourage K-12 students to consider a career in STEM.
FIRST Tech Challenge
Competition at Miami University: Saturday, January 14
- Volunteers areneeded throughout the day to support the competition.
- Companies are invited to set up tables to connect with the competitors and their parents and talk about what engineering and computing scientists do at your company.  There is no charge to participate in this event.  You just need to signup with the Outreach Office.
- The Miami FTC Team is looking for sponors to help them upgrade their basic robot so their team can be competitive with the long established teams.

SWE hosted Girl Scout Day: Saturday, April 15
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Outreach Office have a fun day on campus planned for area Girl Scouts. SWE is seeking volunteers to assist with activities and speakers to come talk and share their professional knowledge and insights.  The Girl Scouts would love to learn more about all the different things engineers and computing scientists do, and how they can take steps now to begin pursuing those careers themselves!

If you are interested in participating in any of the above events, please contact Joanna Hohn at hohnj@miamioh.edu.
