The 2025 Staff Leadership Summit is September 25 in KU Memorial Union on Lawrence campus. The theme of the all-day free professional development opportunity geared specifically for KU staff is “Shaping Our Future.” Once again some sessions will be livestreamed. The Learning & Development team recognizes the challenging times we are living in. We chose the theme in our effort to provide staff with tools and information to spur positive forward momentum. Virtual Mental Health First Aid is a course designed to teach how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use disorder or crisis and the skills to be helpful and supportive to someone that is struggling. In this workshop, we’ll discuss stress and strategies to manage its impact on us as faculty and staff while we are expending the often-unacknowledged emotional labor of supporting students' growing mental health needs.

Supervisory Training for Excellence in Performance 3.0 (STEP) |
STEP 3.0 is the long-standing, comprehensive supervisory course for supervisors of staff. Participants meet weekly for eight weeks; two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon. Some weeks include reading and video watching in addition to class time.
