Deuteronomy 29:29
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
New International Version (NIV)
Do you understand the Bible completely?  Even Peter said some of Paul’s letters were hard to understand.  I’ve been reading it for nearly fifty years and preaching it for over 40 and I still don’t understand everything.

Moses came to the close of his ministry by acknowledging that there are some mysteries beyond our comprehension.  The secret things belong to the Lord.   Are we really surprised that our finite minds cannot completely comprehend an infinite God.  If we could figure him out, would he really be God?

We must not be discouraged.  God reveals to us all the things we need to understand to follow him.  Alistair Begg says, “The main things are the plain things.”  God is not playing hide and seek, but seek and find.  If we seek him with our whole hearts we will find him.  When we find him by all means let us follow him.  Then when we see him face to face, we will know as we are known.  Won’t that be glorious?
Pray with me:
Father, we confess that there is so much about you that we do not yet understand.  Reveal to us all that you want us to know.  Remind us that if we knew what you know, we would want what you want.  Whatever else we know, help us to know you, we pray, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
