Extension Information for Academic Advisors

International students who are unable to complete their academic programs by the end date listed on their I-20/DS-2019s must apply for a program extension (the sooner the better), particularly those who originally had end dates listed on their documents for May 2026. Please be aware that if you receive a request for extension from an international student, we have detailed program extension guidelines for academic departments as a resource for you.

International Student Guidance and Support

Interested in requesting specialized guidance for your unit or department for greater understanding and sensitivity to support our international student population? Review the descriptions of currently available in-house NYU support.

To request a specific workshop to be presented within your department or for any select NYU-related audience, please email ihub@nyu.edu.

Key Highlights for International Students This Month

If students plan on traveling internationally (especially with spring break approaching), we’re encouraging them to review our travel page early on or watch our travel video to avoid any issues. We’re also reminding them to make sure that they have a valid travel signature.
We’re in the midst of tax season! All international students received this tax email last month, and we continue to update them on tax webinars available to help them in the filing process.

2026 International Student Hub (I-Hub) Award Nominations

We are now accepting nominations for three awards:

International Student Leadership Award: Celebrates a student who demonstrates exceptional leadership within the international community.
NYU Student Camaraderie Award: Recognizes a student who fosters a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
International Student Solidarity Award for NYU Professionals: Honors faculty, administrators, and staff who champion international student life at NYU.
