Hosea 6:1-3
1 “Come, let us return to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces
    but he will heal us;
he has injured us
    but he will bind up our wounds.
2 After two days he will revive us;
    on the third day he will restore us,
    that we may live in his presence.
3 Let us acknowledge the Lord;
    let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
    he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
    like the spring rains that water the earth.”
New International Version (NIV)
"When is the best time to repent?" a student asked his Rabbi.  "Right before you die," his teacher answered.
Through Hosea's preaching, God called his idolatrous people to repent.  Hosea quotes them in these verses.  The Israelites believe God will revive and restore them. 
Like the prodigal son, we may come to ourselves and return to our Father.  Between the moment we decide to return and the actual return, time stands still.  Will we do what we have said we will do?
The student said to his Rabbi, "But we cannot know when we will die."  The Rabbi said, "Then repent now."  Will we?
Pray with me:
Father, we do not presume upon your grace.  Change our hearts and minds so that we return to you.  Help us not only to decide to repent, but to actually return to you.  In Jesus' name, we pray.   Amen.
