STAR Monthly Zoom in November

The holiday season can be difficult for children and families involved in the child welfare system; advocating for sibling contact and connection is important to help those children who are feeling especially lonely during this time of year. Please join us on November 17 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. for our discussion on Preserving Sibling Connections. We will have SMU Law Professor Diane Sumoski join us to talk about the legal rights of children in foster care regarding access to their siblings, as well as ways to advocate for and support sibling relationships for the children you serve. We will also have the opportunity to hear from local CASA program staff with lived experience who will share their experience with sibling group adoption and some practical best practices for advocating for sibling groups

Would a Fuel Card Help with Your Program's Travel Costs?
Texas CASA is meeting with a fuel card company, CorPay, to explore benefits for local CASA programs. If your program is interested and has a CASA car or pays for fuel instead of reimbursing mileage, please contact Tamea Byrd at tbyrd@texascasa.org. She is coordinating with CorPay to introduce them to the network and determine if this option could give programs a discount on their fuel purchases.
