Executive Director |
| Dear Playhouse Friends, I’m finding it hard to believe that it’s already November, but here it is! We are very pleased to be opening our first play of the season, Terms of Endearment tomorrow, Friday, November 2nd. If you’re a fan of the 1983 Oscar winning film starring Shirley MacLaine and Jack Nicholson, you don’t want to miss this wonderful adaptation that has all the moments that made you laugh, cringe, and cry. And if you’ve never heard of the movie before, but love rom-coms, family dramas, are missing Parenthood, but binging on This Is Us, trust me when I say you’ll also love Terms of Endearment. If you can make it this weekend, tickets are discounted for our premiere weekend, but if you can't, take advantage of our Thursday night promotion which gives you $2 off a ticket, snacks (including delicious desserts from our friends at Cake Zen), and drink specials! I also hope you can join us Black Friday Eve across the street at the Avalon for a very special Offstage at Lola’s. Playhouse alumna Devon Yates has been busy in New York City performing in and musical directing cabarets throughout the city and we are thrilled that she has offered to put an evening together here in Erie while she’s home for the Thanksgiving holiday. The theme is "Grateful" and I can promise you’ll hear songs from shows you’ve loved over the years, with a group of performers you’ve watched grow up on our stage. Hope your November is wonderful!
Kate

Terms of Endearment
The play based on the Oscar-winning screenplay by James L. Brooks and the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Larry McMurtry, is making its way to the LECOM Stage! The relationship between Aurora and Emma, mother and daughter, played by real-life mother and daughter Sue Lechner and Kate Neubert-Lechner, is complicated. Though they talk each and every day, Emma is often exasperated by her highly-opinionated mother. We follow them a they navigate through the years and the changes and challenges they face—Emma’s arduous marriage to “Flap” (Giovanni Ciminella), Aurora’s hesitation at embracing becoming grandmother, as well as a tentative new relationship with Garrett (Joe Greulich), the retired astronaut next door. Their relationship is further tested when Emma needs her mother’s support the most, finding courage in unexpected places. The cast is rounded out with Jennifer Malone playing the parts of Patsy, Doris, and the nurse, and Victor Kuehn featured as Dr. Maise. This small but talented cast is directed by Charles Corritore, assisted by Eleanor Logan, with set design by Christine Daugherty, lighting design by Joe Hassler, and costume designs spanning decades by Ryan Ingram.
