Planets with History
In the process of planning Josh's retrospective show, we brought together a collection of vintage work that he is finally ready to part with, including Planets that:
- have been rescued from Josh's house, where he often takes pieces just to look at for a while;
- are inscribed "Josiah," meaning Josh loves the way they turned out;
- have been reserved from previous exhibits, each inscribed on its polished base with the name and date of the museum or event in which it appeared;
- were made in 2002, set aside as being especially beautiful, then discovered a few years ago and saved until they turned 20... which is now!
Many of these vintage Planets contain glass cane and spaceships that Josh will never make again. All reveal the artist's evolving techniques, ideas, and aesthetics.
Every one has a place in Simpson Glass history.
