A Lasting Transition
In the early 1980s, three IUP students—Cynthia Bingham, Michael Hertrick, and Suzanne Pequignot—collaborated on a sculpture design and set out to find donors of material, time, labor, and equipment to help fabricate their work and display it on campus. When the piece, titled Transition, was dedicated along Grant Street in October 1983, Art Department chair Joanne Lovette said it served as “incentive to IUP students that their dreams could become reality.” Forty years later, the sculpture still stands on campus, now across 11th Street from Memorial Field House.
