Hip Hip Hurray for Magic Dragon Day!

It was a beautiful day for Magic Dragon Day! The rain stayed at bay and our Lower School Campus was filled with so much energy, laughter and fun! From the Maypole Dance, Tug of War and field games, to cake walks and carnival games, there was fun for everyone at this annual St M event. This year, team BLUE was victorious and we congratulate them as winners of this good-natured yearly competition.
St. Michael's would like to extend our tremendous appreciation and thanks to the 2018 MDD chairs, Kim Cronheim, Ashley Mackey, and Jules Kearfott and their fabulous team of volunteers for making Magic Dragon Day such a special event. THANK YOU!!

Be sure to check out our website's Media Gallery later today for Spirit Week and MDD photos! Go Blue! Go White! GO DRAGONS!

P.S.: If you captured any great MDD photos, please email them to Andrea Amore at aamore@stmschool.net. We'd love to have them!
Important Announcements:

New Director of Technology

In fullfillment of the new Strategic Plan, St M is pleased to announce the hiring of David Grossman as our new Director of Technology.
Dave has been an educator for twenty years, the last twelve in educational technology. Three years ago, Dave moved from St. Louis to Richmond to serve as an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for Henrico County Public Schools at Hermitage High School and Fairfield Middle School, helping staff with instructional technology initiatives and providing professional development. In St. Louis, he spent nine years as the Secondary Technology Coordinator for Maplewood Richmond Heights School District. Dave began his career as a middle school social studies teacher in St. Louis public schools. He holds a bachelor's degree in social sciences from the University of Missouri and a masters in education administration from Lindenwood University.  Welcome!

Faculty News

After over a decade serving our Lower School and nearly three decades teaching, First Grade teacher Kim Baldwin has decided to retire at the end of the school year. Kim joined our faculty in 2007, bringing with her a strong background as a reading specialist. Working with students during the critical period when children are beginning to fully realize the ways that reading brings the world directly to them has always been a passion for Kim. Recently, she helped lead the push for acquisition of more leveled reading materials as well as deployment of a developmental spelling program. Countless students at St. Michael's and throughout the region owe much of their reading acumen to Kim. We all are grateful to Kim for her service, and wish her and husband Edward all the best in their next chapter.
