New Student Matriculation Ceremony |
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Matriculation Ceremony, where a new class of students will be officially welcomed into the Walsh University community. The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m., on Friday, August 18, in the Cecchini Center Alumni Arena. This time-honored tradition marks a significant milestone in the lives of our new students, and it symbolizes the unity and support that are essential in fostering an environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, personal development, and spiritual growth. Dressed in their academic regalia, faculty members will gather to celebrate this momentous occasion while the University President and Vice President for Academic Affairs extend a formal welcome, embracing our new students as valued members of the Walsh University community of scholars. Please wear your Walsh University Class T-Shirt.

C.A.P.E. Teaching and Assessment Kick-Off |
The Center for Academic and Professional Enrichment (CAPE) which provides ongoing, strategic and institutionally supported opportunities for faculty and staff development, and is led by Dr. Ute Lahaie, hosted the 2023-24 Teaching and Assessment Kick-off this week. More than 50 employees attended the two sessions offered during this event. Drs. Ute Lahaie, Amy Heston, and Nick Morris presented an interactive session entitled: Course and Program Development with the End in Mind: Ensuring Academic Quality Through Academic and Co-Curricular Assessment. Special guest David Grimes, M.Ed., Senior Instructional Designer and Online Faculty Development Manager, Ashland University, discussed how AI chatbots like ChatGPT are reshaping our classrooms and what role educators can play in this revolutionary impact on education in his session entitled Navigating the Cutting Edge: Forging a Positive Student Impact in the Age of AI.

Ben Walther was elected to join the Board of Directors for the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration in Canton. In this role, he will participate in quarterly gatherings to discuss potential partnerships and events between the nuns at the monastery and local communities. “The nuns pray unceasingly for all of us, and it’s a joy to serve in this capacity, helping to bring their mission of prayer and service to the streets and congregations of Stark County,” Walther said. He is also committed to ensuring Walsh University continues its commitment to, and support of the work the Poor Clares are doing!
