Providential meetings between folks probably happen more often that we know. All I know is that in 2009 I met Mike Heiser initially on a phone call and the ministry trajectory of Discovering MErcy was forever changed!
A client of ours told us that somehow this Dr Heiser guy knew about spiritual stuff and could help survivors of TBMC. I called Mike and talked with him. He sent me a copy of “the Myth that is true!” Reading that manuscript ( which later became THE UNSEEN REALM) it became clear to me that God LOVED humans and Human beings were his family. I set up a conference with him here in Pennsylvania. And just about every fall for 7 years he came to PA and sat with a small group of us and taught us about the Biblical TEXT! He took us through what felt like every weird passage in the Text. He lovingly spoke into our lives adjusting our theology!
He loved us enough to build a platform under us so that we could stand steady and strong to help survivors of TBMC. As we look back over the last 13 years we spent with Mike, I see in life long connections of friendships building and strengthening the Body of Christ. Living as human imagers! NOT perfect, but Living in relationship, even though it’s messy sometimes.
It was an honor to be Mike’s friend. Audrey and I learned what it is to BE an imager of Christ through Mike’s friendship. He LIVED it!
Discovering MErcy is part of Mike’s Legacy! He believed survivors, he supported us as we supported survivors, he financially made a way for survivors to get help. Mike, you are forever in our hearts here at Discovering MErcy. We will be good stewards of what you taught us and we will teach others, dear friend.
