As we bid farewell to 2023 and look forward to another year of growth and exciting new opportunities, we present a spring preview of some fun and engaging campus activities on the horizon in 2024. In January, we are kicking off Human Dignity Week with our MLK Day of Service, widely recognized throughout Northeast Ohio for our commitment to sending hundreds of students out offering service and support at various places throughout the community. In February, get ready for Lil Sibs Weekend and Walsh’s first-ever all-campus talent show, WU’s Got Talent! Save the date for Solar Eclipse Fest on the quad, a rare and spectacular celestial event on April 8. Stay tuned for more details!

Interview with President Collins on National Pilot Shortage, Walsh’s Degree in Professional Aviation |
President Tim Collins recently discussed the national pilot shortage on a technology podcast with WAKR Radio in Akron. Dr. Collins shared how Walsh’s Bachelor of Science in Professional Aviation degree aims to help address the shortage through an innovative and collaborative partnership with American Winds College of Aeronautics. Walsh University Awarded New Grant to Enhance Research Lab and Benefit Faculty, Students and Ohio Businesses |
Walsh University was recently awarded a second SPARQ (Shimadzu Partnership for Academic Research and Quality of Life) grant by international analytical instrument manufacturer Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI). Walsh now stands among a select group of universities recognized with the prestigious SPARQ 2 grant which encompasses a comprehensive suite of some of the most state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation on the market. These instruments used in materials testing and chemical and elemental analysis will broaden the range of services that Walsh will be able to offer the community in support of Ohio businesses in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, environmental services, drug development, any many more. Shout out to Dr. Britt Cooper and the Walsh University Chorale for giving a spectacular performance at the Lessons and Carols Concert this past weekend. It was truly an evening to remember.

In partnership with the Office of Alumni & Career Connections, the Walsh Pre-OT Club recently held a Christmas toy drive to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of Walsh’s alumni, more than 30 toys were delivered this year!

The Academic Calendar for students, staff, and faculty, includes dates to note throughout the semester, such as add/drop deadlines, last day to withdraw with a “W,” and final grade deadlines.
