July is here and with it comes the very apex of summertime experience in Transylvania County. The waterfalls are waterfalling. The campers are camping. And basically, wherever you go this time of year, the hills are alive with the sound of music. 

No matter what your favorite flavor of summertime adventure, Brevard has a little of everything ready for you to explore, whether you’re looking for thrills, chills or just a shady spot to relax and enjoy the best of the season.

This always-inspiring gallery exhibit by talented members of the Transylvania Art Guild will show off some of the best of the local art scene. Gaze upon the diverse collection and vote for your favorite. 

Fiddles and foot tapping melodies can be expected at this free event, where you can dosey-do with your darling to your to your heart’s delight on one of the largest dance floors you’ve ever seen.  Bring your dancing shoes. 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and that there is exactly zero chance you won’t have a good time at these spectacular red, white and blue Independence Day festivities in downtown Brevard. Kicking off bright and early at 9:00 AM with the Firecracker 5k, the 4th will feature a full day of live music, great food, kid events, parades, the TC ARTS duck race and, of course, a crackling good show of fireworks at 9:30. Yankee Doodles of all ages are encouraged to attend, because it’s going to be quite the party. 

You might not need an excuse to check out some truly exceptional art, crafts and handcrafted goods on a beautiful weekend. But this beloved 15th annual event is also a fundraiser for the Transylvania Arts Council, and a gorgeous way to see extraordinary works, grab a bite from a local food truck and use the festival as an excuse to visit spectacular galleries and nearby natural wonders along historic 276.

What’s more beautiful than a perfect summer sunset? One with sweeping mountain views in the heart of Pisgah National Forest, that’s what.  Join experienced guides, Jayne and Clyde, as they lead you up trails, specifically tailored to your skills, interests and abilities, where you can learn a little about the landscape, share stories and, of course, take in the dreamy views. 

A love of adventure goes with the territory in Brevard, and that includes great movie adventures. Steven Spielberg’s 1981 classic, “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” rates pretty high on the list. Catch all the thrills, spills, and narrow escapes with live orchestra playing John Williams' unforgettable score out under the stars.
