Last week, Donovan Grimwood and Ginna McWhirter presented to the Tennessee Concrete Association at their annual convention in Franklin, Tennessee. Donovan and Ginna spoke about the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s (TDEC) processes when it comes to permit applications and what the Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP) can help companies with. The presentation was geared toward the concrete industry and covered air and water permit and inspection topics, as well as touched on the requirements of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. While the SBEAP is geared toward helping small businesses, the information provided covered many topics in broad strokes to engage a wider audience.
Next week, SBEAP will provide technical assistance by meeting with environmental health and safety staff at their facility. This assistance will include training on what environmental rules and regulations the facility staff should know. The more SBEAP can help facilities in understanding their permit requirements, the easier it should be for facilities to remain in compliance with their permits.
These are just two examples of how SBEAP can help communities and small businesses understand and comply with their permits with TDEC. If you or someone you know might be interested in a session as mentioned above, contact us!
