WELCOME

Engineers' Week 2023 was a success! The CEC students engaged with several companies at the DEI Employer Showcase, students and faculty raced their Sphero Chariots, CEC student organizations held an open house, Burns & McDonnell shared cookies, pizza, and knowledge on transitioning from a student to a professional, and the week ended with a movie and popcorn night.

Thank you to the faculty, students, and companies that made Engineers' Week a celebration of engineering and computing science.

SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENGINEERS

The Miami University Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers is hosting two events in April.

SWE Evening with Industry
Wednesday, April 5
6:30-8:30pm

Girl Scout Day
Saturday, April 22
SWE members will host Girl Scouts from Southwest Ohio for an engineering and computing day on campus. The SWE chapter is seeking sponsors who want to get their company names in front of both SWE members and the Girl Scouts to encourage young women to pursue STEM careers.

CSE INDUSTRY PANEL

The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering is hosting an Industry Panel.

CSE students are recruiting professional panelists to discuss their careers, offer insights to current students on actions they can take now to benefit their careers in the future, and provide guidance on career opportunities and searches

ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS

The Miami University student chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) works independently and in association with professional chapters of EWB to develop communities on a local and global scale. EWB supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. EWB is currently seeking support for their projects and outreach efforts, as well sponsorship for their Annual Gala. If you would like more information, please contact Matthew Sweet, Corporate Outreach Chair, at sweetmr@miamioh.edu.

ALUMNI & FRIENDS CONFERENCE

The 2023 CEC Alumni & Friends Conference is our annual showcase of some of the best and brightest
alumni and friends of the College and is scheduled for Friday, May 5th. This year's theme is Unity, Purpose & Collaboration.

UPSKILLING

Are you looking for courses and workshops to educate your employees in exactly what you need them to know?

Do you want to add new courses to your current upskill course lineup?

With Ohio TechCred, employers can be reimbursed for the cost of the courses. TechCred funding is open in March. CEC currently offers advanced manufacturing, materials evaluation, regulatory affairs, and data science courses and workshops that pair with Ohio TechCred.

CEC can help and work with you to develop courses customized to your needs and Ohio TechCred can pay for those courses.

DATAFEST

Hosted by the Center for Analytics & Data Science (CADS)

Friday, April 14 through Sunday, April 16

DataFest is a weekend-long data hackathon in conjunction with the American Statistical Association. Each team of undergraduate students will be given a large data set to explore, formulate a meaningful contextual question, use the data to answer that question, and present the findings to a panel of judges.
