GRANT IN MOTION
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
In the early 2000s, Stark Community Foundation spearheaded an effort to create a charitable fund for women by women. Soon thereafter, The Women’s Fund was created by 12 local women to support women and children in Stark County. Since its inception, The Women's Fund has awarded nearly $150,000 to assist underserved women and children of all ages, cultures, ethnicities, races and abilities in our community.
Most recently, The Women's Fund awarded over $21,000 in grants to area programs including Dolly Parton's Imagination Library through the Stark Library. This unique program mails a free, new book every month to participating children from birth to age five – meaning kids could add 60 books to their personal libraries! Age-appropriate books are selected by experts in the education field, and there is no cost to sign up a child for the program. Thanks to a generous $3,000 grant from The Women's Fund, more children in our community will be inspired to dream more, do more and be more.
