• Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarship – George Washington University
  Closing Date: Application due January 5 and counselor recommendation due January 15
  Amount: Tuition and Fees, Room and Board and Books 
  GPA Requirment: N/A
  Description: The George Washington University’s Stephen Joel Trachtenberg (SJT) Scholarship program, founded in 1989, provides academically talented D.C. high school seniors with a full, four-year scholarship covering tuition, room and board, books and fees at the university. Students must apply to GW by January 5 and be nominated by their high school counselor by January 15.
• David M. Rubenstein/Economic Club of Washington, D.C. Scholarship
  Closing Date: January 31
  Amount: $20,000
  GPA Requirement: 2.5
  Description: The David M. Rubenstein/Economic Club of Washington, D.C. Scholarship program is designed to promote and encourage District of Columbia public high school seniors to attend and graduate from college. Open to select DC students who have been nominated by participating public high schools. Applicants must be graduating seniors who have applied to a degree‐granting program in an accredited college or university and plan to enroll no later than the fall following completion of high school. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident (or have applied for permanent residence, the application for which has not been denied and intend to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law).
  
• Hazel and Mark Masterson Scholarship 
  Closing Date: January 31
  Amount: Up to $5,000
  GPA Requirment: 2.8
  Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors at Roosevelt high school who are US Citizens and involved in community and/or school based extra-curricular activities. Applicants must submit a 300-word essay on a significant challenge that they have overcome or how this scholarship will make a difference in their life. Multiple scholarships may be given up! 
• District of Columbia Nursing Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 15
  Amount: $2,500
  GPA Requirment: 3.25
  Description: A one-time $2,500 award given annually to two students in financial need who are residents in the District of Columbia who have been accepted or are currently enrolled in a Nursing program at the University of the District of Columbia.  A minimum GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent GPA on the scale used by the institution is required. This scholarship is strictly administered by the University of the District of Columbia.
• Kiwanis Club of Washington Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 15
  Amount: Up to $20,000
  GPA Requirment: N/A
  Description: Any graduating, college-bound high school senior who both resides in and attends school in the District of Columbia are eligible to apply for this scholarship program. Applicants will be judged primarily on leadership qualities as demonstrated by contributions to school and community. Academic achievement as demonstrated by standardized test scores, grade point average, and transcripts will serve as a secondary scoring metric. Financial need will also be evaluated, but unlike previous years students do not need to submit their FAFSA in order to be eligible to apply. 
• Acts of Care Scholarship
  Closing Date: April 20 (Application Opens January 11)
  Amount: Class Acts Care Package and $50 
  GPA Requirment: 2.0
  Description: Applications are open to all high school seniors presently enrolled in a DC Public or Public Charter School. Residency within the District of Columbia must be provided. In addition to ​a 500-word essay detailing a community issue and idea to make a significant change within their community scholars must organize and facilitate a community service event showcasing their ability to serve others
  
• Lamond-Riggs Citizens Association, Inc. Scholarship
  Closing Date: April 30
  Amount: Up to $1,000
  GPA Requirment: 2.5
  Description: LRCA will award three (3) Academic Excellence Scholarships to eligible high school graduating seniors residing within the LRCA boundaries (see scholarship packet for a map), who will attend an accredited two or four - year college or university.
• Ira Dorsey Scholarship

  Description: Scholarship is open to male high school seniors who live within the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area (Virginia, DC, Maryland) and plan to attend a four-year college or university
  

National Scholarships

• Bart Kamen Memorial FIRST Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 1
  Amount: $10,000
  GPA Requirement: N/A
  Description: Scholarship is open to a high school senior or graduate who has not yet commenced full-time undergraduate studies at a college or university. Applicants must have been accepted to, or applied for admission to, an eligible undergraduate program, which means a full-time program in Biomedical Engineering, Pre-medical Studies, or a program that allows students to pursue a chosen major while simultaneously completing a subset of medical school prep courses (e.g. biology, physics, chemistry and organic chemistry, so that the student will be qualified for admission to medical school upon graduation), at a college or university that (i) in the United States, is eligible to participate in the federal student financial assistance programs administered by the United States Department of Education under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended, or (ii) outside the United States, is similarly accredited. Applicants have to have participated as a team member for a minimum of one year on a FIRST® LEGO® League (including Discover, Explore, or Challenge), FIRST® Tech Challenge or FIRST® Robotics Competition team
• Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

  Amount: Up to $30,000 over four-years

  SAT Requirement: 1,000 SAT or 21 ACT
  Description: Scholarship is open to graduating, minority high school seniors who plan on attending an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States. Applicant must show leadership potential, dedication to community service, and evidence of financial need.
• AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 5
  Amount: $5,000 (split over Freshman and Sophomore year) 
  GPA Requirement: 3.0
  Description: Scholarship is open to students entering their freshman year of college in the fall of 2020 and must be planning to pursue a degree in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. Marine biology does not meet this requirement.
• Animal Welfare Institute Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 14
  Amount: Up to $2,000
  GPA Requirement: 3.0
  Description: High school seniors in the United States are eligible to apply for this scholarship if they (1) have demonstrated a commitment to animal welfare through volunteer work and/or advocacy and (2) intend to pursue a career that will seek to reduce animal suffering and protect vulnerable species. Applicants will be required to submit two letters of recommendation from individuals (not family members) who can speak to the applicant’s education record and commitment to animal welfare.
• Alzheimer’s Awareness College Scholarship Essay Contest
  Closing Date: February 15 
  Amount: Up to $5,000
  GPA Requirement: N/A
  Description: AFA’s Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness College Scholarship Essay Contest is an annual competition for college-bound high school seniors.  Applicants are asked to write a 1,200 to 1,500-word essay that describes the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on themselves, their families or their communities, and what they have learned in light of coping with the brain disorder.
• Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship

  Description: Eligible students must have financial need and have been accepted or are currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. A letter of acceptance into a nursing program or a transcript stating the applicant is in a nursing program must be included with the application.
• The Lucinda Beneventi Findley History Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 15
  Amount: $2,000
  GPA Requirement: 3.25
  Description: A one-time $2,000 scholarship awarded to two graduating high school seniors that have demonstrated advance interest in history and are planning to major in or pursue the study of history in a full-time accredited college or university in the United States.
• Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 15
  Amount: Up to $10,000
  GPA Requirement: N/A
  Description: The Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship Program provides financial assistance for post-high school education to dependents (children and spouses) of roadway workers killed or permanently disabled in roadway work zones. The Foundation will help ensure that their dependents academic dreams will continue.
• Visa Black Scholars and Jobs Program
  Closing Date: February 15
  Amount: Up to $20,000 per year 
  GPA Requirement: 3.0
  Description: Scholarship is open to current high school seniors who have financial need, identify as Black/African-American and intend to pursue a full-time four year degree at an accredited US institution in Technology (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related majors) or Business (e.g., HR, Finance, Marketing, Sales, International Business, or related majors).
• $1,000 February Scholarship

  Description: Scholarship is open to high school, college, and graduate students, and those planning to enroll within 12 months. Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States or an international student with a valid student visa. Applicant must fill out a short form.
• Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarship
  Closing Date: February 20
  Amount: Up to $10,000
  GPA Requirment: N/A
  Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors graduating in the spring of 2021. Applicant must be a vegetarian and have promoted vegetarianism in their school and/or community.
• Goya Foods Culinary Arts Scholarship Program
  Closing Date: February 26 at 3 pm CT
  Amount: $5,000 (awards may be renewed for an additional 3 years)
  GPA Requirement: 3.0
  Description: Applicants must be a United States citizen, a legal permanent resident, or a student granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Applicants must be entering an accredited two-year or four-year institution as freshmen and majoring in a full-time Culinary Arts or Food Sciences program for the 2021-22 academic year. Students enrolling in a two-year junior or community college must plan to transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor’s degree. Recipients must be willing to complete 10 hours per month of community service.
• Arnold M. Miller I Find-A-Way Student Scholarship

• Sweet and Simple Scholarship

  Description: Applicant must be 13 years of age or older, be a resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant must submit a short written response about a gift they received.
