John 17:20-21
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
New International Version (NIV)
“If I could hear Jesus praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies,”  wrote Robert Murray McCheyne.  Can you imagine hearing Jesus praying for you?  What would he pray for you?

On the last night of Jesus’ life, on the way to Gethsemane, Jesus prayed an amazing prayer for his disciples.  He prayed that they would become one as he and the Father are one.  Jesus said that when his people became one the world would be won to him.

Jesus not only prayed for his disciples that day but for all who would believe through their message.  This includes us!  As the message of Jesus has traversed the centuries and millennia, it has come down to us.  When Jesus prayed this prayer, he had us in mind.  Even more, Jesus “ever lives to intercede for us.”  Jesus is praying for us right now.  What should we fear?  Nothing in the world!

 Pray with me:
Father, we thank you for the effective intercession of our High Priest on our behalf.  Yes, Lord, we ask you to unite us so that the world may come to know you.  Thank you for life, abundant life and eternal life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
