Patient Experience Journal Call for Submissions Update
At this critical time in our shared history, we are faced with a powerful challenge, the rapid impact of COVID-19 on our healthcare systems and community. With that acknowledgement, we are refocusing our 2020 special issue of Patient Experience Journal (PXJ) to address Sustaining a Focus on Human Experience in the Face of COVID-19. Submissions received for our initially planned special issue on patient & family experience in behavioral health will remain in review and under consideration for future issues of PXJ.

In reintroducing the Guiding Principles, we acknowledge our current reality has caused a significant shift of focus as we adapt policies and processes to address this crisis. At the same time, a focus on the human experience at the heart of healthcare has never been more tangible, raw and needed. These principles reinforce essential and aspirational actions for healthcare organizations as we are all called to do what we can do to get through. The application of some or all of these ideas will be driven by our individual situations and capacity, and our belief that these ideas remain fundamental to all we are called to do in healthcare.

Julie Danker, Chief Experience Officer for Smart-ER, shares that we will get through today's crisis through leading by example and maintaining care experiences that are comforting and safe.
