A Message from Our CEO Gil Preuss

In the United States, and especially in Washington, DC, we tell our stories through statues and monuments. In part, we use these statues to honor individuals or commemorate moments in history. Those who design these fixtures of our national remembrances do so to define our past, and perhaps more importantly, to create a common narrative for the future.

A Romantic Getaway with Meaning and Community

On January 11, locals Kendra and Travis will travel with 19 other couples from Greater Washington on Honeymoon Israel, an enriching, provocative and fun experience for young professional couples (ages 25-40) who have been married five years or less, for whom at least one partner is Jewish. Kendra and Travis have traveled extensively throughout their relationship, but Travis has never been to Israel. Both are very excited to experience Israel through each other’s eyes and to connect with a new community of other couples. But before embarking on this journey, they have a lot of questions – so we connected them with newly returned HMI couple, Elan and Janeace.
Honeymoon Israel is supported locally by The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington in partnership with Sixth & I Historic Synagogue.

Thousands of ideologically motivated young adults are moving to underdeveloped towns and cities in Israel’s periphery to build innovative, mission-driven communities. On February 7, Federation’s Imagine Israel Changemakers Series will host two Israeli urban influencers who are dedicating their lives to close social gaps in areas such as education, housing, culture and civic engagement. Meet these dynamic agents of change as they share unique ideas that challenge Israel’s status quo and affect social change in Israeli society.
