Bikes and Brews
It’s no longer a secret that Transylvania County is one of the top biking destinations in North America.  With hundreds of miles of peerless single-track, hundreds more miles of fire roads and a myriad of options for road cycling at every level, Brevard is a two-wheeled mecca, drawing in riders from all over the world, just up the street and almost everywhere in between.

But after a long day on the trail, a cyclist can work up a powerful thirst, a need to kick her heels up and enjoy a cold pint at a friendly spot. And it just so happens that some of Transylvania County’s best biking destinations are just a trail or two away from bars and award-winning breweries. Here are a few of our favorite pairings:
Pisgah Forest
Biking

World-class mountain biker Adam Craig has called Pisgah National Forest “definitely one of the top three places in the universe I’ve ever ridden. Maybe the best one.” Pisgah has over 80 miles of single-track, plus miles of fire roads, and road access to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Beer

Ecusta Brewing serves up signature local brews at their taproom located right at the entrance to Pisgah National Forest. Chill out with a seasonal ale on their spacious patio overlooking the Davidson River.

Local bike shop The Hub opened Pisgah Tavern on site to provide a one-stop shop for all your biking and beer-ing needs. Visitors can stock up on gear, get info on trails and group rides, and unwind with a pint from one of several rotating taps. Indoor and outdoor seating is available with occasional food trucks on the patio.
DuPont State Recreational Forest
Biking

DuPont State Recreational Forest offers gorgeous terrain, fantastic trails and some of the most beautiful waterfalls around. With 75 miles of single-track, cyclists will find ample opportunity to discover some of Transylvania County’s most unforgettable scenery and take the ride of a lifetime.

Beer

Beloved beer-maker Oskar Blues opened their Brevard brewery in 2012. They’ve since made themselves an integral part of the Brevard community. Their busy taproom and patio play host to live music five days a week, as well a host of special events. You can grab a bite from the CHUBwagon and recount your day’s adventures with one of their celebrated brews, all just down the road from DuPont.

Cedar Mountain Canteen is a casual, friendly beer garden with fourteen taps and a selection of wines and healthy snacks located at the entrance to DuPont State Recreational Forest. Its lively patio is a great place to cool off and catch up on the latest trail gossip.
...And Don't Miss
Squatch Bikes and Brews brings the best of both worlds to Brevard’s Lumberyard Arts District, with friendly customer service, gear, rentals, and the bike brands and beers you love on tap.

Further up the road in Rosman, Headwaters Outfitters is locally famous as a one-stop shop for all sorts of outdoor adventure including canoeing, kayaking and flyfishing. But their lively Forks of River taproom is a great place for cyclists to enjoy a pint and hear about everything happening just upstream.
