Dear Traveler,

As someone who receives our e-newsletters regularly, you’ve probably been to Brevard and the Land of Waterfalls lots of times. But have you ever been during the winter? If not, we have to tell you: you’re in for something truly special.

In fact, we’ve created a special Woodland Winter Getaway page on our website that goes into all the details. Best of all, we’re giving you the chance to win a free Winter Getaway that includes a two-night stay at the wondrous Greystone Inn, an assortment of dinners and breakfasts at local restaurants, an excursion with Headwaters Outfitters and a $500 Gift Card for a downtown Brevard shopping extravaganza. All you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the Woodland Winter Getaway page and sign up. It’s that easy!

Even if you don’t win, you can still visit Brevard and Transylvania County and experience it like you never have before. For example, Hiking in December and January can be chilly, but without that extra layer of leaves, the views can be breathtaking. Sometimes those views include the stunning site of a frozen waterfall or two. Looking Glass (on US 276) is pretty easy to get to, but don’t underestimate the smaller falls (Moore Cove Falls, for example), which freeze more often throughout the season and offer the opportunity for a nice woodsy walk.
For the cold-weather averse, winter can be a fantastic time to learn a new skill from one of Transylvania County’s talented residents. Maybe it’s fly-tying. Maybe it’s wheel-throwing. Maybe it’s becoming a connoisseur of chamber music by attending Brevard Music Center’s free First Mondays concert series. Our calendar for January is already brimming with exciting events.
Also, check out our accommodations page for great deals on cozy local inns and rentals where you can snuggle into the season and explore all it has to offer. And don’t forget to check out our Woodland Winter Getaway blog, which offers lots of great ideas for winter explorations in the Land of Waterfalls.

Before things get away from us, remember 2018 has not quite gotten away yet. Party people looking to put on the ritz and send out the old year in elegant, black-tie style might consider  taking advantage of the Greystone Inn’s luxurious New Year’s Eve Package, which includes dinner, dancing, plush accommodations and serene lake views at one of North Carolina’s most exquisite inns. For those more inclined toward raucous live music and less inclined toward formalwear, tickets are still available to Oskar Blues New Year’s Hootenanny today, but they are going fast, so don’t delay.

Happy New Year. Catch you in 2019.
