Planning Ahead Every five years, St. Michael's submits to an accreditation evaluation of our academic, financial and administrative functions through the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). This five-year evaluation is scheduled for November and thus St. Michael's will be visited by a VAIS accreditation team the week of November 13. As noted in the Academic calendar, Friday, November 17 is a noon dismissal day. No after-school extended day care will be offered that day. Thank you for your support.

Middle School EntranceWhen visiting the Middle School during school hours or picking up a student early, if at all possible, please park in the visitor lot by the gym and come in through the original front door by the Office. There is a pass-through in the construction fence from the parking lot that will allow you to access the front sidewalk. As this is a one year challenge due to construction, we thank you for your patience.

Lower School Fruit and Vegetable Challenge
The Lower School will once again be participating in the fruit and vegetable challenge starting on November 1st.
For the first 3 weeks in November, students will tally if they ate a lunch or snack serving of fruits or vegetables. The grade who wins will earn an extra P.E. class and fruit party. Students will additionally be discussing in P.E. class the importance of eating a well- balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Lower School Mountain Biking Fall Mini-Session
Join the staff of Virginia Outside as we hit the local mountain bike trails for this fall mini-session. We will visit the James River Park and other area parks over the course of the month. Participants learn beginner and intermediate mountain biking skills. Bikes, helmets and transportation are provided. Participants should be comfortable riding a bike on pavement before signing up for this program.
- Who: Open to boys and girls, 1st- 5th grade
- When: Fridays- Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 10, Nov. 17
- Time: 3-5 p.m.
