Green Valley Recognizes Members & Leaders

Green Valley 4-H Club had a busy November 13 meeting which was held at Rolling Meadows Dairy Barn at 6:30pm. We had our Parents Night with a potluck. The club had a short meeting followed by recognizing our new members, installing officers, handing out club awards and finally recognizing our leaders for their years of service. We are honored to have such dedicated leaders!! Fran Trewin had the opportunity to recognize her husband, George and her daughter, Jodi during the presentations.

Our next meeting will be December 11, 2023. We will begin the night with a community service project- ringing bells at Fleet Farm from 5-6pm. We will then move to Rolling Meadows Dairy Barn to have a short meeting and holiday party. This will begin at 6:30pm.

Art Camp at Upham Woods
I just recently went to an overnight arts camp located in Wisconsin Dells at Upham Woods on November 18-19. I learned how to do needle felting, visual arts, photography, and I learned how to make a skit, etc. There was a dance, a bonfire, and entertainment by the counselors (which was hilarious). I made lots of new friends, one of whom lives close to me. It was the most fun I’ve had all year. I will DEFINITELY be going back next year. YAY FUN!

Cooking with Meat Project Box

Calumet County 4-H and the Distance Learning Team bring you the opportunity to participate in the Cooking with Meat Project Box. By participating in this distance learning project, youth will learn the following:
- The safe way to cook, store, freeze, and thaw meat of the different project species.
- How to find the correct internal temperature of the cuts of meat.
- Try different recipes, helping them learn different ways to flavor and cook meat.

There will be a Zoom meeting hosted by Bernie O’Rourke, Extension Livestock Specialist, to lead youth through a cooking lesson, using the information in the Cooking with Meat box.
Boxes will be picked up from your local county extension office. Please register as a family. Registration closes on December 15th. You can use this link to register: https://uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6EhBdFnA5Os81Ey?fbclid=IwAR0PG_lcRilq_HJDl1KkEX6uICn5aFxN7PMYU--k62wLq4SO41eC-bvzyEc
