| A Bee’s Eye View of a Healthy Food System
From the perspective of native pollinators, Claire Kremen will describe how our current food systems is not only unhealthy for the planet, but also for pollinators and people. She will describe studies of native bees and other pollinators that reveal how we can create environmentally-friendly farming systems that are also highly productive.

Do you know where to look to find the dozens of mushrooms species that call our campus home? Beaty Museum Members are invited to join our Fungi Curator Mary Berbee to learn more about how to identify different mushroom types and where to look for them.

Kelp forests are moving underwater jungles of emerald green seaweed! Join Jenn Burt, a marine ecologist at Simon Fraser University, to share in the scientific journey that explores the magical underwater world of kelp, sea urchins, sea stars and fish, and also hear some of the stories shared by coastal Indigenous people through a unique collaborative project that explores their relationship to sea otters and their experience of the rapid changes that sea otters bring to their coastal territories.

Come by for a night at the museum! On the third Thursday of every month, the museum will stay open late offering activities until 8:30pm. Admission by donation, all ages welcome. Activities include: - Raising Big Blue showing
- Guided Museum Tour at 7 pm
- Hands-on activities where you can learn more about specimens in the museum and our current exhibitions.

The French Ameri-Can Climate Talks – Oceans (FACT-O) will be traveling to Vancouver to hold a conference highlighting the impact of the climate change on the biodiversity in deep ocean from the perspectives of France and Canada. Held at Beaty Biodiversity Museum, in partnership the Alliance Française of Vancouver, the conference will welcome a variety of panelists from France and Canada to discuss the issue in detail.

Life In Colour
September 16, 2017 - February 18, 2018
Colour your way through nature on a giant mural that showcases ecosystems from BC and around the world. Presented by Hemlock Printers, artist Angela Gooliaff explores keystone species in both the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, employing feminine symbology of peace and wisdom, and story through a giant interactive colouring book mural.

Nature Vancouver Photography Competition 2017
May 7 - November 17, 2017
Every year, Nature Vancouver receives hundreds of entries in its annual members photography competition. Photographs are entered in one or more of five categories: Botany, Birds, Mammals, Entomology and Spiders, and Other Natural History. This exhibition features the first, second, and third place winners in each category as well as the best in show for 2017.
