Are You Digitally Literate?
Digital Literacy is the ability to use technology, understand and use information in multiple formats, and perform tasks using a digital environment.

What does that mean?

  • If you want to find reliable information or browse your online accounts, you will need to learn to use the Internet and specific online environments.
  • If you want to use a tablet or smartphone to read books, play games, or use social media, you need to be able to understand the technology and how it works on your device.
  • If you want to fill out a job application or take a test online, you need to be able to get to the right place and know how to navigate each page.
  • You want to be able to use a computer, a tablet, a smartphone, or other digital device for various purposes.

If you want to build your technology skills, the Longview Library has you covered. Our Digital Literacy programs begin again in September. Sign up to build your skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and in October, Basic Computer Skills.

You can also take advantage of one-on-one technology help every Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Bring your computer or other device and your questions and we will help you solve the issues while you build your technology skills.

Northwest Voices: Stephen Murphy

Tuesday, September 5 | 7:00 PM
Join us for our first NW Voices event of the season, featuring author Stephen Murphy. Murphy was born and raised in Washington and earned a BA from UW and an MBA from Columbia. He has been actively engaged in Brazil and Latin America for over 40 years and served as a Director of the Peace Corps during the George W. Bush Administration. His book, On the Edge: An Odyssey, is a reflective look at Murphy's life, the decisions he made and why, as he sought his calling on paths less traveled.
Did you know that the more often you read books to young children, the more prepared they are to read on their own once they go to school?
Our new 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge encourages you to read 1,000 books to your infant, toddler, or preschooler before their first day of kindergarten. Sign up and keep track on Beanstack. In-person registration begins at the library on Wednesday, September 20.
